New Donation System

I’ve introduced a new donation system to help cover the many costs of mantaining Film English as a free and ad-free resource site for teachers. The EFL lessons on the site are used by eighty thousand teachers every month. I appreciate that most teachers are not well-paid and in many countries many teachers can’t afford to make a donation, but as I don’t charge anything for the free EFL lesson plans and don’t accept advertising, the only way to keep the site free is through the generous donation of teachers, school owners and directors of studies. .

I’d ask owners and directors of schools whose teacher are using Film English with their students to consider paying a monthly subscription or a one-off payment. If your teachers are happy using the free EFL materials, the students are benefiting too, so it only seems far to consider helping support the site. I’d also ask owners of schools and training institutions who are extensively using Film English materials on online training courses to consider making a payment. Below you can see the new donation box.

Support Film English

Film English remains ad-free and takes many hours a month to research and write, and hundreds of dollars to sustain. If you find any joy or value in it, please consider supporting Film English with a monthly subscription, or by contributing a one-off payment.

Monthly subscription

One-off payment

You can support English in one of two ways: by paying a monthly subscription  or making a one-off payment. Choose the quantity you can afford.

I’m doing my very best to keep Film English free, but it costs me thousands of euros and takes hundreds of hours of my available time every year.

Thanks for your support.

  1. Dear Mr. Kieran Donaghy:
I have made one payment (10 euros) before using any of your lessons. But I truly believe that you deserve a lot more, so I think it’s a terrific idea to ask for a monthly payment (to FILM ENGLISH) to my school. Anyhow, I would like to thank you for everything. Your lessons are a source of inspiration for everyone who discovers them. Good luck in your task. Best regards,

    • Dear Diana,
Thanks a lot for your generosity and support. I really want to keep the site for free as I’d like as many teachers as possible to use the materials and for their students to see the films and do the activities which i believe are of value. If I charge for the lessons it’ll mean that lots of teachers in poor countries won’t have access to the materails and I don’t want that to happen. As I explained in the post it costs me a lot of money and time keeping the site free and ad-free, and I can only do so through the generous support of teachers like you.
      All the best,

  2. Done! My school will pay a monthly donation, starting in September. Thanks for all your inspiring lessons and your optimistic message. Best regards

  3. I’m really willing to donate because I’ve used a few of your lessons so successfully and I appreciate the wonderful job you are doing.
My problema is I haven’t got a Paypal account and I can’t find another way to send my donation.
    Is there any other way?

  4. I’m really willing to make a one-off payment to contribute sustain Film English. I’ve used 3 of your lessons so successfully that I feel I have to help somehow. However, I haven’t got a PayPal account and I wonder if there is any other way to donate.
